"Creating Success.....No Excuses!"
Dear McDonogh 26 Family,
On behalf of the entire MC26 Family and Community, it is my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the 2011-2012 school year! As I begin my first year as principal of McDonogh 26 Elementary, I am committed to working tirelessly to promote an educational atmosphere that is centered on academic excellence which includes high expectations for students and staff, high quality challenging instruction everyday and intense parental involvement. I expect students to perform at optimum levels and to become responsible members of society. Working as a team, anything is possible! We will reach and surpass our goals!
FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT WAS GREAT!
The students of McDonogh 26 enjoyed Family Literacy Night on November 15th. Our librarian, Rebecca Carl, assisted chairperson Teresita Diaz in making this a memorable event. Ms. Carl invited two staff members from the Jefferson Parish Public Library to participate in storytelling activities, along with several parents and teachers. The children were engaged and rapt with attention! Besides listening to stories read aloud, the students enjoyed donuts and chocolate milk, and a lucky few brought home door prizes donated by our librarian.
THANK YOU EXXON MOBIL FOR " DRESSING US FOR SUCCESS"

Exxon Mobil purchased brand new uniforms for every student at McDonogh 26 Elementary! We are so grateful for their committment to us and to education! Also, Exxon donated over 400 books to our school! We will use the books in our school library as well as in our classroom libraries!

Students of McDonogh 26 Elementary School benefited from the art programs made available through the funds from the Arts Council Grant. We use the grant to bring in artists who design their programs specifically to bring the "Arts" to students. We hope that with this exposure our students will develop an interest and appreciation for the performing arts. Through poetry and play writing we hope the students will increase their listening and writing skills. It is also hoped that through the program they may develop better social skills.Without your assistance, our students would not have the exposure to the opportunities that this program presents. Thank you for helping to enrich the lives of our students!
GRANDPARENTS DAY EVENT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS! OVER 18O MCDONOGH 26 ELEMENTARY FAMILIES WERE REPRESENTED! WE LOVE AND HONOR OUR GRANDPARENTS!

I AM going to college!
McDonogh 26 Elementary promotes college on an elementary school campus. The State of Lousiana's vision is to "Create a World -Class Education System" for all students and our vision is aligned accordingly. It is never too early for students to begin thinking about post secondary education. On our campus that vision is articulated through our positive relationships with students. Once a month we celebrate as college alumni by wearing our college shirts. It provokes thought and encourages questions from our students. Every month students complete a mini-research project based on a college that's highlighted on campus. We had two winners this month and they were treated to lunch with the principal! Congratulations boys!

The campus looks great!
Thank you our neighbors! St. Paul Baptist Church! and of course thank you to OUR AWESOME MC26 TEACHERS!
